My recent visit to Jammu & Kashmir changed my entire view about Kashmir. Common Kashmiri muslims are clean at heart. They are the perfect host always willing to help. One can feel and understand real impact of terorism by visiting Kashmir only. I had heard of “Lal Chowk” several times in news channels. As we passed lal Chowk our guide said “this is lal chowk, day before yesterday bom blasted here”. I could visualize how bom would have blasted and people running for their lifes. Kashmiri’s have learnt how to live with terorism.

People have lots of anxiety about future of kashmir. Everyone is waiting for end of militancy waiting to lead a normal life, Where mothers won’nt have to worry whether their childre will be back to home safely from school.

Dal Lake is once again bubbling with activities. Optimism is everywhere, shikara owners are again convincing tourist for sightseeing in Dal Lake. Houseboat owners are again repaintig & renovating their house boats hoping to see those golden days back again.

If you ever plan to visit Kashmir stay in a houseboat. Dal lake is 24 kms in diameter, there are houseboats near roads and in the middle of the lake also. Staying in the middle of Dal lake away from hustle bustle of city roads would be a good idea.
